Moving Mountains is a British food tech company creating plant-based meat and fish alternatives. We caught up with Julie Burke, Head of International Sales & Operations who shared about their experience at the recent FHA – Food and Beverage 2023. Attendees had the chance to sample and taste products such as the plant-based Fish Fingers, Chicken Burger and new Cumberland Sausage.

Q: How was your experience at FHA 2023?

We found the experience positive, everything was well organised and the facilities very accessible.

What is your company doing to adjust your products to suit consumer preferences across different regional markets?

The show was very useful to understand the Singapore market, culture and  cuisine. We found that particular products were more popular, such as our plant based Fish Fingers, Chicken Burger and new Cumberland Sausage. Consumers were open to trying and to using in local recipes. We are reviewing the feedback and will consider in our product innovation for the Asia markets.

How do Moving Mountains’ products differ from other plant-based meat in the market?

Our products are made from 100% natural ingredients and have no GMO.  We invest a great deal of time and resources into making our products individual and tasty.  We aim to provide a ‘one stop shop’ with a wide catalogue of versatile products.  Our clients know that we are at the forefront of plant-based innovation and that we will continue to develop new exciting products with the reassurance that they will meet our standard good quality.

“Sampling is key to attract meat eaters and flexitarians to the plant based category and to ensure that their first experience is with good quality tasty products”

What are the challenges faced in growing the brand and how is your company addressing these challenges?

Sampling is key to attract meat eaters and flexitarians to the plant based category and to ensure that their first experience is with good quality tasty products.  Education is also important to overcome the perception that processed foods are unhealthy, in fact there are many benefits to food processing – it is sustainable/cruelty free, reduces food waste, preserves nutritional qualities and increases food safety.

What can we expect from Moving Mountains at FHA 2024?

We will continue to exhibit to reach a wide audience and to raise brand awareness, show our new innovations and exciting new products!
