Prof. Cedomir Nestorovic is Professor of Geopolitics and Islamic Business at ESSEC Business School. He is also the Director of the ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA Asia-Pacific. He has taught at ESSEC Business School for more than 20 years and is also the Academic Co-Director of the MBA program at the Arabian Gulf University, Manama, Bahrain. He was awarded the title of “Professor of the Week” by The Financial Times in 2012 and awarded the Best teacher prize at ESSEC in 2017. Professor Nestorovic is featured in Islamica 500. Author of several books on Islamic Marketing, the latest one being Islamic Marketing: Understanding the Socio-Economic, Cultural, and Politico-Legal Environment, published in 2016 by Springer. He regularly teaches in Paris, Mannheim, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bahrain, Amman and Casablanca either for students or companies such as Takeda, Danone, Delphi or Thales. Ms Chong holds a Science degree in Chemistry from National University of Singapore, and an MBA from Leicester University, UK. She has over 20 years’ experience in the areas of quality assurance and food safety, well-versed in GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000, Organic Standards, six Sigma and Total Quality Management.
As a technical professional, she is currently the Technical Chair of food processing & distribution under Singapore food standard committee. She has been working with government authorities such as SFA and Enterprise Singapore in areas of Cold Chain Management Standards, Organic certification, FMCG standards and Food Safety Regulations. In 2017, she received the Merit award for Quality and Standards given by ESG, endorsing her contributions to the Singapore standards journey.
In her current position in FairPrice, she is responsible for the overall control of the food safety and quality assurance system as well as regulatory management for the Co-operatives. Due to keen interest in quality management systems and strong belief that a strong foundation in system will build a strong brand, she has helped Fairprice in developing the risk management framework and various control measures in fulfilling the vision of assuring food safety from source to store.

She has more than 15 years of experience in the Halal industry and was involved in the ASEAN Working Group on Halal Food, MABIMS Special Technical Committee on Halal Development, Singapore Food Standards Committee and the Food Innovation & Resource Centre Advisory Panel. Ms Dewi holds a Masters of Business Administration (With Distinction) from University Hull UK and Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Food Science & Technology from the National University of Singapore. At present, Ms Dewi also holds a concurrent appointment as Director (Asset Policy & Endowment) overseeing the development and management of community funds at the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis), a statutory board in-charge of Muslim affairs.

Born and bred in Singapore, Chef Iswardy first cut his teeth at Saint Pierre restaurant in 2004, before moving on to other renowned establishments like L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Ma Cuisine, BBR by Alain Ducasse and La Dame De Pic. After an impressive trajectory to the pinnacle of fine dining, he sought a new challenge that would allow him to showcase his expertise differently. His senior roles at Singapore’s top French restaurants had allowed Chef Iswardy to master the fundamentals of French culinary techniques and management principles. He has now found a perfect opportunity at Kee’s, with Chef Andrew Walsh, to offer European and Asian cuisine in a more casual setting. Dr Kalpana Bhaskaran is currently the Deputy Director, industry partnerships and Head, Glycemic Index Research Unit at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore with over two decades of expertise in the field of food, nutrition and culinary science. She championed the design, planning and implementation of Singapore’s and the region’s first accredited Glycemic Index Research Unit (GIRU) and has completed many clinical trials in this area. She is currently the Principal Investigator for many ongoing nutrition intervention trials and efficacy testing. She has also been appointed as the expert advisor to Ministry of Health, Singapore in relation to sugar reduction from the sugar-sweetened beverages and the launch of the Nutri-Grade label. She is also the industry mentor for young entrepreneurs. Dr. Kalpana holds leadership positions in various organizations, including serving as the President of the Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association and Diabetes Singapore. She is also actively involved in work groups such as the Pro-Tem committee for novel foods and ACE consumer panel. Her influence extends globally as an exco member of the Asian Nutrition Society for Sports and Health (ANSSH) and the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies (FANS). She was conferred the National Day commendation award for recognition of her work and its impact to diabetes management and education in 2014. In 2022 she was conferred the “Exemplary Overcomer Award, which recognises the spirit of risk-taking and perseverance in the pursuit of innovation and new opportunities for growth. In 2023, she was awarded the “Exemplary leader” award for her outstanding leadership style to lead multiple teams with diverse portfolios.

Liza Tan is the Head of Scientific & Regulatory Affairs at Food Industry Asia (FIA). In her current role, she leads mission-critical projects across a spectrum of regulatory challenges encountered by food and beverage brands, as well as B2B suppliers within the region. She also leads the Halal Food workstream at FIA, facilitating discussions on Halal issues with members of the food industry. Liza holds a degree in Food Technology from Massey University and has over a decade of experience in regulatory affairs, covering the APAC region. She previously worked with Silesia Flavours, Givaudan, and KH Roberts. She has been integral in the implementation and maintenance of Halal Management Systems, involved in new plant setup, and served as the Halal Team Leader. With over two decades of experience in the F&B industry, Muhammad Kamal has honed his experience through his positions managing various F&B/Hospitality operations, openings, and events. An Excellence Service Awardee (EXSA), he has been involved in several state and international events such as the International Monetary Fund 2006 and APEC Summit 2009, Kamal has also represented Singapore in Gulfood 2013, Dubai. Prior to joining Muis in 2016, Nurul worked with The Hershey Company, Abbott Nutrition and Abbott Manufacturing Singapore in Regulatory and Quality Compliance.

Suhaidah Mohd Kasan Harom brings over 15 years of extensive experience in capability development in the Health and Halal industry. With a robust background in Food Science and Nutrition, she has spearheaded national health initiatives for children and youth during her tenure at the Health Promotion Board. Recognising the importance of health literacy for all, Suhaidah developed and implemented patient-centric educational programmes, including clinic-based nutrition counselling and community- and school-based nutrition initiatives. Driven by a passion for talent and workforce development, Suhaidah transitioned to the Halal industry in 2015. At Warees Halal Limited, she strived to advance capability development within the Halal sector. Leveraging her expertise, she has orchestrated impactful learning experiences by employing diverse methodologies and digital solutions. Committed to continuous growth and learning, Suhaidah has dedicated herself to lifelong learning initiatives. She pursued advanced education, earning a Master's in Skills and Workforce Development, a Specialist Diploma in Career Counselling, and a WSQ Professional Diploma in Leadership and People Management while contributing to Warees Halal's endeavours. Now, as a freelance capability development consultant, Suhaidah lends her wealth of experience and expertise to Warees Halal, furthering its mission to drive significant advancements in capability development within the Halal industry and beyond.

Uma launched the Spotted Zebra with Penguin Random House March this year. The book on turning things that make you stick out into things that help you stand out, was a huge success. Last year she was also appointed the Co-dean of Spikes Academy - Asia’s most prestigious award show. Uma loves physics, discussions on aliens and wakes up dreaming of walking on Mars.
