National Team Challenge

The National Team challenge is a two-part competition that teams from various countries will participate in over the course of two days.

This is a team-based competition, with each National Team consisting of:
• 6 x Team Members (Culinary Chefs / Pastry Chefs)
• 4 x Helpers

• This competition is open to individuals aged 16 or above, from Singapore or overseas, who is a Chef in Training or a working professional.

• The team must consist of the same members for the Chef’s Table and Hot Kitchen contests at the Restaurant of Nations.

There will be a registration fee of SGD 800 per team.

Please note that this registration fee is non-refundable for any reason including application withdrawal or competition cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances.

Competition Structure

Day 1

Part A: Restaurant of Nations Hot Kitchen Challenge

Each team is required to prepare 55 portions of a three-course menu. This three-course menu will be individually plated for 50 guests who will be dining at the Restaurant of Nations.

Part B: Chef’s Table Challenge

In each competition kitchen, a Chef’s Table will be set up for each team. Teams must choose a topic or them that best represents their culinary concept and create a menu composition for the chef table.
The top three performing teams of this two part competition will proceed to enter the Battle for the Lion at Restaurant of Nations.

 

The top three performing teams of the two-part competition will then enter the finals on the last day of the event – Battle for the Lion at Restaurant of Nations where all teams will compete on a clean slate.

Day 2

Part C: Battle for the Lion

This is a Live Cooking Challenge for the top three National Teams that will take place on the final day of the event. The top three teams with the highest overall scores will battle it out with a clean slate for the coveted Lion Trophy. Teams are expected a 3-course meal to impress 30 persons and judges with ingredients provided from a Mystery Box.

All participating national teams must participate in a two-part competition over two days.
